Abstract

The objective of this article is to identify the capital structure preferred by Manzanillo companies. Financial theory suggests that companies can choose between different financing options to meet their corporate needs. The methodology consists of collecting information from primary sources during the second half of 2024, via digital surveys to a non-random sample of 30 Manzanillo companies related to port activity. The main findings indicate that the majority of the companies in the sample n=30 state that they have not had financing and do not need it, the main preferred sources of financing are: getting partners and/or giving up part of the company, followed by reinvesting the company's own profits and, thirdly, in a tie, obtaining bank loans as well as merging or forming alliances with other companies.
