Macroeconomic stability and its relationship with economic growth and poverty reduction

This academic essay deals with the relationship between macroeconomic stability, economic growth and the reduction of poverty. The objective is to understand if once the macroeconomic stability of a country is achieved, it is enough for the economy to grow or, where appropriate, to reduce poverty. To find the answers to this dilemma, some works and statements by economists focused mainly on Latin American economies are summarized. Also, the case of Mexico for the last decades is discussed. The conclusion, broadly speaking, is that macroeconomic stability, by itself, is not sufficient for economic growth and poverty reduction.
